Speaker's Profile:
Paul Mak is a Hong Kong entrepreneur who was educated in Hong Kong, United Kingdom and the United States. He in comfortable in multicultural environments and is fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese, English, and conversant in Korean. He combines western perspective with a deep Asian knowledge, and he has accumulated more than 15 years of experience in various aspects of the China consumer market.

Paul founded and operates Mak Brands, which aims to develop a portfolio of brands that serves the Chinese consumer market. The group is currently focused in the Chinese F&B and education market. In 2014, Mak Brands entered into a JV arrangement with Nolboo, the largest Korean food restaurant chain, to operate the business in China. By the end of 2016, 30 units were opened. Apart from Shanghai, stores were opened in Suzhou, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Chengdu and Xiamen.

Mak Brands got into education through the acquisition of Tiny Tots Kindergartens in Shanghai in 2015. The group current has 5 kindergartens (2 to open next year), and is continuing to grow the business through new sites and acquisitions. A top tier academic team is being assembled and overseas curriculums are adapted to local needs. The group aims to become a world class player in early childhood education in China.

Paul is also a member of Member of the All-China Youth Federation, Member of Shanghai Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Member of Standing Committee of Shanghai Municipal Federation of Industry and Commerce, President of Hong Kong Shanghai Youth Association, etc.
