Mr. Maximilian von Poelnitz
Founder and CEO, Secret Ingredient
Maximilian von Poelnitz is founder and CEO of Secret Ingredient. He has been in Hong Kong since 2008.
He co-founded the business in October, 2011 while struggling with the time, cost, and quality of preparing home cooked meals in Hong Kong. The business started in a tiny apartment kitchen and now has grown to over 20,000 deliveries to date.
Prior to creating Secret Ingredient, Max worked for CB Richard Ellis as a Corporate Real Estate Professional in Hong Kong. He left the real estate business in 2011, to attend INSEAD, the world's leading business school, and gain a Masters in Business Administration. It was there that he further developed the skills to create a scaleable business.
In the past two years, Max has invested his and has raised over 500,000 USD in funding for the company. The company now has a website in chinese, has launched delivery to all of Hong Kong and is looking at expanding at the end of 2014.
Max is passionate about food, customer service, and the challenges that come with building a home cooking brand. Max’s vision is to build a franchise business out of Secret Ingredient as well as make it into Asia’s premiere cooking brand.
When Max is not running the business, he is hosting dinner parties, playing golf, or hiking in the beautiful Hong Kong outdoors.
