Mr Kenichi Imamura
Senior Producer, International Acquisition and Co-production of NHK
Imamura entered NHK in 1983 as a TV director. His main focus of interest has been in international affairs and has directed and produced programs. His program "The Crisis in the South China Sea" was awarded the prestigious “Galaxy Award” in Tokyo. He has long been producing news programs, but apart from this he was also involved in NHK’s “Digital Stadium”, which introduced innovative and up-and-coming artists throughout Japan.

Between 2005-2009, he worked for MICO (Media International Corporation), the business arm of NHK which distributes NHK programs abroad. He oversaw developing the NHK programs to make them available for the international market. He was a speaker for the BCWW in Korea and the Seminar on Overseas Content Promotion in Hangzhou held by the State Administration of Radio, Film and TV of China.

Since 2009, he has been transferred to NHK headquarters and is the producer and the commissioning editor of the slot “World Documentary”. For this daily program, NHK acquires 90 documentaries from abroad and co-produces 20 programs a year.

Imamura graduated from the University of Tokyo, Faculty of Law, in 1983. He is a big fan of baseball and is still a football player.
