Mr Tom Jacobson

TOM JACOBSON has served as a major studio chief and hands-on producer of hit movies. He currently headlines The Jacobson Company, an independent film and television company. Jacobson’s producing debut came on John Hughes’ acclaimed comedy FERRIS BUELLER’S DAY OFF. Partnered with influential filmmaker Hughes, Jacobson produced the hits UNCLE BUCK, NATIONAL LAMPOON’S CHRISTMAS VACATION and THE GREAT OUTDOORS.

Jacobson served as President of Worldwide Production at Twentieth Century Fox, and also as President of Paramount Pictures. As an executive, Jacobson has supervised over seventy-five movies, including blockbusters such as HOME ALONE, SPEED, DIE HARD: DIE HARDER, DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE, TRUE LIES and INDEPENDENCE DAY.

Other selected producing credits include, the Coen Brother’s THE LADYKILLERS, starring Tom Hanks, MISSION TO MARS, MIGHTY JOE YOUNG for Disney; THE DARKEST HOUR for Lionsgate, BURGLAR for Warner Brothers, and EXPLORERS, TOP SECRET, FLASHDANCE for Paramount. Recently, Jacobson produced PROOF, a television series for TNT.

Jacobson is a visiting professor at the USC Cinema School for their Asia programs, and consults for film and TV projects in China.

Jacobson attended Yale University, studying documentary filmmaking, and is a long-standing member of the Director’s Guild, the Producer’s Guild, and the Motion Picture Academy.
