Cary Cheng had grown up in Hong Kong before he pursued his undergraduate education in Canada, where he earned a BFA in Film Production. He started his career as a Production Assistant in Asia Television, and moved to film industry in no time. He had served such Hong Kong film masters as Benny Chan, Peter Chan, Stanley Tong, Patrick Tam and Jackie Chan in a role of assistant director, and moved on to produce films in partnership with the renowned writer-director Ivy Ho. He then stationed himself in China after producing "True Legend" in 2009 and since then worked as an executive at the Walt Disney Company in Shanghai. Cary Cheng joined the company in 2013 as Deputy General Manager. He is responsible for the project development and production including “The Ghouls”, “Go away Mr. Tumor”, “Jian Bing Man”, “Detective Chinatown”, “One Hundred Thousand Bad Jokes”, “The Great Hypnotist”, “Police Story 2013”, “BeiJing Love Story”, “Goodbye Mr. Loser”, “Running Man”, “Let's Get Married”. As the blockbusters achieved good word-of-mouth nationally, Wanda has become the No. 1 private film company in Chinese mainland with a 6.1 billion RMB yearly box office in 2015.
