Speaker's Profile:
Kenny Cheung started his career with HSBC in Hong Kong as a Management Associate, eventually becoming a Vice President in the International Corporates division. He managed a portfolio with corporate customers from four continents and combined banking facilities of over USD100 million. Successfully steering his customers through the global financial crisis with no bad debts or provisions, he also grew portfolio income by 20% for two consecutive years. Long inspired by the impact of microfinance and social innovation, Kenny left HSBC in 2012 to travel through the developing world and learn more about social enterprise while exploring opportunities in social entrepreneurship. During this time, he co-founded The Hong Kong and Bangladesh Friendship Society in Dhaka, initiating and executing community development projects in the villages and slums of Bangladesh. He also served as a pro bono consultant for a startup microfinance institution in Kenya. He is currently the Programme Executive for The Yeh Family Philanthropy, recently rebranding and launching the Nurturing Social Minds programme. Kenny holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto.
